Job Description


Cellerate is looking for an enthusiastic engineer specialised in electronics with basic knowledge of firmware development. As an electronics engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of custom circuitry that will power new and exciting systems. You will have the autonomy and responsibility to create and build your own PCBs, and collaborate with the team to define functionality and integration into Cellerate's systems. The role is based in the Manchester city centre, however hybrid remote work is a possibility. The hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, typically from 9am to 6pm but we offer flexibility.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design, develop and test electronic assemblies and PCBs
  • Identify issues, diagnose faults and provide relevant solutions
  • Collaborate with other engineers to define functional requirements and build prototypes
  • Support embedded software engineers in firmware development
  • Contribute innovative ideas and novel electronic design solutions to solve problems
  • Create and maintain technical and production documentation
  • Contribute improvements to the team’s working practices

Qualifications & Skills


  • Knowledge of electronics and ability to understand schematics
  • Experience of electronic circuit design, testing and debugging
  • Experience of electronic design software such as KiCAD
  • Experience with SoC and microcontroller integrations such as Raspberry Pi and STM32
  • Experience with wired protocol standards including USB, UART, and CAN
  • Experience producing technical schematics, BOMs, and production documentation
  • Use of handheld soldering-iron and hot-air soldering rework tools
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and prioritise work
  • Ability to carry out work in an organised manner


  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, senior roles available
  • Based in or around Manchester area

Salary & Benefits

  • £30,000 - £50,000 per year, full-time, depending upon professional experience
